Ash closed the door behind him, shaking off the dusting of snow that the chill February winds had deposited on his coat and hat while he’d collected his package from the mailbox outside. He was staying at home for the winter; his mother gone away to the warm sandy beaches of Hoenn for the cold months while right now his best friend Pikachu was next door at Gary’s house being groomed by Daisy Oak, leaving Ash all alone in the warmth of his home.

Do I really want to do this? He wondered, hanging his coat up and kicking off his boots. With parcel tucked safely under his arm he made his way to his room upstairs, thoughts fighting harder and harder with every step. This is forever, no going back if I do it, but I want this more than anything before.

When I even think about doing this, I feel like I just won my first badge all over, he thought as he sat on his bed, slowly unwrapping his large package. If even thinking about it can make me that happy, it’s the right decision. So why do I feel hesitant?

Layer upon layer of bubble wrap fell away, unpopped by the trainer too lost in thought to enjoy the simple pleasure of popping them. This is what I want, more than anything, he decided as the bottle, filled with a thick cream, rolled out of the last bit of wrap and into the trainer’s hand. I want to be a Pikachu again!

No, not want, I don’t want to be a Pikachu again, I need to be a Pikachu!

He had been a Pikachu once before, for only a short time. It was back in Johto when he and his friends were on their way to Blackthorn City to face off against the Dragon Gym Leader Clare. They’d met a witch named Lily who, with their help, made a potion that accidentally turned Ash into a Pikachu. It had, of course, been rather shocking at first, but he had spent most of the rest of his time playing with Pikachu.

Although he never really spoke of the experience, he never forgot it and recently he had been thinking of it more and more. Finally, a month ago, he’d gotten in contact with Lily and now he held in his hands the culmination of all his thinking. The potion in the little bottle was permanent, meaning unlike last time he would not be returning to being a human ever again, unless he drank a potion that turned him human again, but that wasn’t his plan. He needed to be a Pikachu, to stay one forever, for many reasons but one above all else.

For years his best friend had been his Pikachu, and through thick and thin they’d been there for each other. Whenever the two achieved victory together Ash was elated, and whenever Pikachu was hurt he too felt the pain, metaphorically. In his heart and soul he’d felt a dark sensation swirling within himself but until these past few months he hadn’t known what it was, or perhaps he had just denied it, but now there was no denying exactly what he was feeling.

He was in love with Pikachu.

He could no longer defy the burning passion consuming his very essence; he had known it on some level for a long time perhaps since the day he had first lain eyes on the cute mouse but with every passing day the inferno grew hotter until he couldn’t stand it anymore.

He took a moment to bask in the warmth of his adoration for his best friend, letting it incinerate any and all doubts he had to what he was about to do. He would never be human again, and that was fine. He didn’t need to be human, he needed to be with Pikachu. He looked over at his desk, an envelope resting on its bare surface with only the name ‘Misty’ printed on it. After he drank this he would deliver that to her at some point explaining everything, but that wasn’t a thought for now.

What if Pikachu didn’t love him back the way Ash loved him? Even with the strength of his fiery love Ash still had doubts about that, but he ignored them as best he could. Maybe Pikachu didn’t love Ash back, but they could still be the absolute best of Pikapals if not!

No more thoughts, the cork was popped off the vial, and the glass tilted up and back letting the liquid previously contained within flow past Ash’s lips and over his tongue, sliding deep into him.

It tasted a little like a battery did when you pressed your tongue to it with just a hint of peppermint. Definitely one of the weirdest tasting drinks Ash had ever had, and now he just had to wait. Was the potion going to work? Had he really just traded away his humanity for, hopefully, eternal bliss? He really needed to stop second guessing himself, Ash realized, shaking his head and standing up, stretching. He looked around his room fondly, as empty as it was. Bed, desk, TV, a few shelves, nothing really exciting but since he’d been out journeying around the world for a few years that was to be expected. How different would this all look when he was a Pikachu? How different was the world going to seem?

He couldn’t wait to find out! The mystery and excitement of what was going to happen to him was starting to get to Ash, in a good way. Everything was going to change, was going to be a new adventure! A new adventure with his new Pikachu body and best friend!

The changes were, at first, subtle. Merely affecting his mind and forming various new glands and organs throughout his body to deal with the buildup of electricity that was going to happen throughout his change and following life in his new form, nothing visual or exciting to watch but Ash could feel it. Strange sensations throughout his body, weird pressure affecting areas which soon formed new internal body parts to keep him safe, or strong. Though oddly, one area seemed to be having a rather strong reaction to the potion; in his lower abdomen it seemed. He reached down and felt the slowly spawning internal organ almost shy away from his touch like it was embarrassed at what it was doing. What was it? He would find out soon.

The internal changes, while fascinating to experience, weren’t the main course of course. The first external change Ash experienced was shrinking. It felt a little like he was being compressed all over, pushed in by some unseen force, or perhaps imploding gently from within where all his bones were pulled inwards. It wasn’t painful, but at the same time the sensation was a little uncomfortable.

Already he could see his world becoming bigger. The bed that before was just the right size seeming to become far larger, although in truth it was Ash growing smaller. His body was a little chubby looking now, especially in comparison to his short legs and arms, but it was starting to look more like a Pokémon’s body rather than a human’s! From his belly, at first small and sparse to the point it was near unnoticeable, little golden hairs were starting to sprout. A quick brush of them, once there was enough to feel them reasonably well, informed Ash they were quite soft, like Pikachu’s but perhaps even softer!

The changes were working! There was no doubt about it now! He was nearer half his previous size, with fur spreading, and the next changes were the ones he was most excited about; the physical ones!

As the transformation progressed his mind flicked back to the time he had been transformed into a Pikachu before. Unlike this time it had been nearly instantaneous; to be fair though that potion had been flawed and temporary. Though it could just be that Lily preferred making slower changing potions now or it had to be slow to be permanent, he didn’t know and it wasn’t really important. He was changing and that was all that mattered.

“Woah! Hey!” he squeaked in shock, something rather unexpected was happening! Between his legs he was rapidly losing the symbol of manhood, finding it replaced with a more feminine attribute. That should’ve shocked Ash out of his happy state, made him start to feel worried about what was happening to himself, but it really didn’t phase him. He just shrugged. Guess I’m a girl now, she thought, chuckling a little as she realized what had happened.

When she had worked out the details of the potion with Lily Ash had told her she wanted the potion to permanently make her Pikachu’s perfect partner, Lily seemed to have figured that meant making Ash a girl!

She felt a blush rise to her cheeks; she was definitely going to be the perfect partner for Pikachu at this rate, she could feel it! She reached up, hands reducing down to mousey handpaws, and rubbed at her cheeks, feeling a tingling through her fingers as she pressed in against her new cheek pouches which already were beginning to collect static and store it to be used for powerful electric attacks. Maybe one day she’d be as strong as Pikachu! A girlish giggle slipped past her lips, everything just felt more and more exciting!

Her fur began to thicken up, spreading over her pale skin to brighten it up to a sunny shade of yellow. Every movement that rubbed the fur together generated more static, which her body stored. She could feel it too; energizing her. No wonder Pikachu always seemed unstoppable if he had this much energy flowing through his little body!

When would Pikachu get back though? The massage had to be almost over by now. What would he think? Will he like me? Ash though with a rush of love flowing through her. She perked up her ears, which were growing out into tall points tipped in inky black, trying to hear her partner return, but all she could hear were the natural sounds of the house and the growing wind outside. It seemed it would start to storm soon, as long as Pikachu got back before it got too bad things would go great for them. Ash’s mother had left on a trip, and nobody would come to visit Ash, especially in a storm, so the two Pikachus would have lots of time to get acquainted with their new roles towards each other.

She sighed, ears drooping down low with disappointment. Pikachu would be back, ust not soon enough for Ash’s taste. At least her changes would probably be over by the time Pikachu returned. Her nose twitched as the familiar feeling of needing to sneeze welled up in her.

“Ah! Ah! Achu!” she sneezed violently, her human nose practically popping into shape with the force of the action, turning to a dark dab on her pretty face. She wiped her nose, feeling a little dazed by the force. She shook her head to clear it, deciding to wait for Pikachu downstairs. She nabbed her hat from the bed and hopped down the stairs, still humanoid feet shrinking and changing into proper, long thick Pikapaws complete with cute pink pawpads on the bottom. She almost looked just like a real Pikachu now, but something of critical importance was still missing.

As Ash finally made it to the ground floor she felt it starting! A growing pressure on her backside along the bottom of her spine, starting first as just a sensation then fast becoming uncomfortable; like a dam desperately needing to burst and yet still valiantly holding on. She frowned, looking over her shoulder, noticing the bulge pressing out under her fur, craving release from its prison to fulfil is destiny!

“Piiikaaaaaa!” she cried out as finally she felt sweet release, the nub forcing out into a wide, flat tail which soon bent and zigzagged until it formed an almost lightning bolt shape, with caramel fur at the bottom by her rump which transitioned to the lovely golden fur coating the rest of her body with the tip shaped a little like a heart; just like any other female Pikachu had!

She felt proud of it, of her entire body really but especially her tail. She looked at it as best she could admiringly; this was it. Ash was a Pikachu again, this time forever! She couldn’t be happier.

Her ears picked up the one thing that could disprove that notion; a small scratching near the little door Ash’s mother had added expressly to be used by Pikachu. Her heart beat rapidly, it was time! She quickly fixed her fur as best she could, not that it was anything less than perfect already, and stood awkwardly by the little custom-made door cut into the full human door. It pushed open slowly, letting icy air and some snow into the warm, dry halls of Ash’s home before revealing the one she had done this all for.

Freshly groomed and smelling of sandalwood Pikachu, Ash’s best friend and first Pokémon, shut the door behind himself, shaking the accumulated snow off of himself and turning; wide chocolate eyes meeting Ash’s.

It was like lightning struck her heart, paralyzing her into staring intently into those big, dreamy eyes. He looked even more perfect than she recalled; such a strong and lithe body with an adorable face and such perfect eyes she could already feel herself getting lost in them. Embarrassment welled within her as she realized she had no idea what to say. She had undergone the change and worried about how Pikachu would react to her new body but not once had she figured out what to say to Pikachu now that they shared a language. What would her first words to her best friend be? What would his words be to her?

“Uh, hey? It’s me, Ash,” Ash said nervously, his voice sounded higher than before, perhaps with nerves. Pikachu said nothing, just staring at Ash. What was he thinking? Ash couldn’t tell, so panic began to set in and she started blurting out everything like a Blastoise’s Hydro Pump. “I love you Pikachu and I always have and I loved being a Pikachu all those years ago and I’ve wanted to be one again and I wanted to be with you and I just did it without thinking but I did think and-” her rant was cut short as Pikachu lunged forwards and pressed his mouth to Ash’s, a mimicry of the kisses he had seen humans do so many times.

It wasn’t perfect in execution, a little sloppy especially as their small muzzles weren’t designed for kissing as well as a human’s lips were, but to Ash it was heavenly. It was like Mesprit herself had blessed the kissed and filled the smooching Pikachus with the happiest, most blissful of emotions sanctifying their kiss as one of the purest and most passionate in all history.

When they pulled away Ash found she had closed her eyes, simply to savour the somewhat awkward but absolutely divine kiss they had shared. Her eyes slowly opened to be met with the brilliant amber of Pikachu’s gazing back adoringly at Ash.

Reflected in those dark pools Ash saw an unfamiliar reflection; a pretty Pikachu girl with similar wide dark golden eyes staring back at her. There were some familiar spikes of yellow fur on top of her head, similar to what Ash had had as a human. She wasn’t entirely unfamiliar, but she was feeling so comfortable in her new form it was rapidly becoming familiar. From her little clawed feet to the tip top of her tall pointy ears everything she could see looking at herself, or in the reflection of her handsome Pikachu’s eyes, that was her. She was a pretty Pikagirl ready to spend her life happily with her Pikaman.

“I never knew you felt that way too,” Pikachu said gently, pulling Ash close to him in a tight hug, and causing the slightly smaller girl to squeak. Too?

“So you-” Ash was silenced with another, smaller kiss.

“For years, and I never knew what to do,” Pikachu nuzzled Ash affectionately, keeping her close like if he let go she’d fade away like the dream he felt this to be. “And you went ahead and did this for me without any idea if I loved you back. You sacrificed everything for me Ash, now it’s my turn to give you everything you could ever want.”

******************************************************************************

It had been a year since Ash had taken his new form and started living his new life with Pikachu. They’d ran off to Cerulean City, bringing Ash’s letter, and giving it to Misty. She had been at first surprised, then irate, but soon she calmed down and accepted what had happened to her close friend. She’d let them stay at the gym for the winter, keeping warm, then once the spring thaw came in the two electric mice ran off to make their own home in the nearby mountains.

They finished their home, just in time, as things began changing for them really fast.

“Careful Lilac!” Ash called, reclining against a weather-resistant pillow Misty had acquired for them, one paw resting on her swollen belly, another egg growing within. The small Pichu running past his momma just giggled, being chased around their den by his father, Ash’s beloved Pikachu. Their family was growing so fast, and already Ash had as much love for her first son as she did for her mate. She’d never expected to want to be a mother, now she couldn’t get enough. She wanted a big family, a huge family even! All the more to love, and that’s what she was filled with in her new life.

Love.

“Hahaha, got you!” Pikachu said, catching their little Pichu and holding him to his chest, affectionately cuddling him as he walked over to his beloved mate and sat next to her while Lilac the Pichu stopped squirming, he couldn’t protest affection like this.

Ash and Pikachu exchanged loving looks before leaning towards each other and kissing, hands held together as they relaxed, looking out the den entrance at the setting sun. Their lives had changed since that cold February day where Ash drank the potion, but definitely for the better. They couldn’t imagine anything they wanted more than the love they shared and the family they were raising. This was their family, their life, and they couldn’t imagine wanting it any other way.

For the record, I do not ship these two. That being said, this was a very cute story. I like that it was Ash's choice to go through with it, and not just some accident that happened to benefit them. And Pikachu's speech to her after her confession just makes it even sweeter.

Overall, a beautiful story.
